He grew up in a wealthy, understanding family and turned out to be a bright,
frank, and confident boy.
He is confident in the idea that "People can always come to an understanding
if they talk to each other."
He's an extremely positive person, and he can be optimistic about any situation.
On the other hand, he may purposely ignore negative topics or questions.
He doesn't really listen to other people,
but that's because his motto is to "think by myself, decide by myself,
take responsibility by myself."
He's still lacking "adult concepts" like being flexible enough to accept other people's opinions.
Since his imagination still hasn't matured, he isn't thoughtful or considerate of other people and can be quite pushy.
Even then, he doesn't think anyone rejects, denies, or hates him at all.
Bound by an extreme bond of trust with Chiaki, he thought they would always be standing next to each other.
He thinks of Hinata as his little brother,
and with his naturally big heart, he pampers Hinata to his heart's content.
He's obsessed with becoming popular.
He has a standard poodle named Belle that he walks every morning and night.
Born into a family that founded a famous local company,
he and his twin brother (Itsuki) spent their days from a young age with many restrictions.
Since the time he started to prepare for junior high school entrance exams, he had to strictly follow his parents' time schedule,
and he spent most of his waking hours studying.
It wasn't an easy life, but his father threatened him saying, "If you can't do it, I'll make Itsuki do it instead."
He endures his strict lifestyle for Itsuki, but Itsuki isn't aware of this fact.
Since Itsuki is Soichi's "symbol of freedom" and "reason to work hard,"
he has strong feelings for Itsuki, similar to an obsession with hope.
He has trouble communicating with others.
To him, communication is "a means of sharing necessary matters," so he still isn't very good at "exchanging feelings with others."
Just because he doesn't show emotion doesn't mean that he doesn't have emotions.
He is only unsure of how to best express himself through words or body language.
The only way he knows how to express his feelings and accept other people's feelings
is through sound and music.
Akari is an androgynous male, and they are often mistaken for a girl by people they meet for the first time.
They really look up to their mother, who is a single mother and doctor,
and she was a great influence on Akari's character, including their personality and sense of values.
Their interest in feminine fashion, way of speaking, and way of thinking are all influenced by their mother.
They're a very caring person who's full of compassion for their loved ones,
which is very similar to a mother's instincts, but their malicious intent of a young boy still prevails.
They try to behave like a typical junior high school boy while at school.
They have a cheerful personality and many friends regardless of gender,
but they're still hesitant to show their true self.
Since their mother was out of the house a lot, they spent a lot of time alone.
Akari's one "good partner" that helps ease the loneliness is video games.
They play everything from games at home and mobile games to arcade games.
Akari and Gekka met each other randomly at an arcade.
They thought Gekka looked lonely, couldn't just ignore him, and is now looking after him.
He grew up in a happy environment with what he believes to be the "ideal family."
Hinata is his younger half-brother from a different mother. Chiaki's birth mother passed away giving birth to him.
He feels like a third-wheel to the family, but he tries to cover that up and pretend he doesn't feel that way.
He's never told anyone about his family or how he feels about them.
People tend to call him handsome, sharp, gentle and sincere, and a flawless prince.
Striving to live up to his image at school, he tries to play the character of the prince.
Instead of sharing his true opinions or emotions,
he has the tendency to say things and act as the other party desires,
but he is still sometimes able to express his thoughts honestly with his close friends.
Everyone tends to like Chiaki because he does whatever they want,
but Chiaki's never fallen for anyone.
He has a mix of envy and jealousy for Kyosuke since he can always share his own opinions.
Since he has always been by Kyosuke's side, he secretly feels depressed when comparing himself to Kyosuke.
That said, he still trusts Kyosuke completely and enjoys the time they spend together.
He calls people he's close to by the first two syllables of their first name.
He's so popular that he's not good with girls.
He was raised with a multitude of love from his parents and Chiaki.
He didn't really go through any hard times as a child, but that also means that he doesn't have the experience of accomplishing something or overcoming difficulties.
Because of that, he is unfamiliar with self-affirmation and is unable to believe in himself.
He still feels a strong sense of anxiety and impatience in not being able to do anything by himself.
Instead of dealing with various obstacles and difficulties on his own,
he tends to rely on others to deal with them for him.
Forgetting things he dislikes or isn't good at,
he usually strays away from things he feels are impossible for him, such as overcoming things, trying things he's unsure about, or enduring something he doesn't like.
Because Hinata unconsciously emits the aura of needing others,
people who have their own hidden loneliness tend to be attracted to him.
He intentionally says mean things and is rude to Kyosuke,
but that's because he wants to confirm that Kyosuke will still forgive him and still loves him.
He loves and respects Chiaki.
The more opportunities he has to admire Chiaki at home and at school,
the more dependent he feels on Chiaki.
Born into a family that founded a famous local company,
he and his twin brother (Soichi) spent their days from a young age with many restrictions.
One day, their parents all of a sudden turned their focus to Soichi and stopped paying attention to Itsuki.
Because of how he was treated, he thought of himself as an unnecessary existence and was deeply hurt.
More than anything, he was sad that Soichi didn't help him.
He still carries these dark feelings with him, and being afraid of loss, he avoids getting close to others.
Thinking that everyone besides him is happy saddens him and contributes to his grumpy and unsociable demeanor.
Because his parents are so indifferent toward him, he is completely free and spends his time as he wishes.
Since he doesn't go home after school, wanders around until night, and frequents questionable bars,
people at school think of him as a delinquent.
Since Chiaki also feels the same as he does, Itsuki doesn't mind being around him.
He thinks Gekka being so attached to him is kind of a pain, but he doesn't mind being around him, either.
He has the habit of stuffing anything and everything into his pockets.
He lost his family and home.
His sense of self and belonging that he had been working on completely disappeared.
From the bottom of his heart, he is grateful to the people who have helped him, supported him, and saved him from the world where he got left behind.
Still, he is questioning himself about why he is alive and what is keeping him alive.
He is a kind-hearted person who loves and cherishes nature and living things.
He seems calm and laid-back on the outside, but because of something he's unsatisfied about,
he's always hungry and tired.
He's grateful for the existence of his classmates Hinata and Romeo.
Hinata's intense energy happily seeps into Gekka,
and he treasures his relationship with Romeo where they can talk about being alive.
One day, when he saw Itsuki performing on stage, he saw him sparkling and was instantly fascinated.
Since then, he's been obsessed with knowing why Itsuki was sparkling and is now attached to him.
He admires Akari and seeks protection and comfort from them.
He is a humanoid android developed by Dr. Mirai, a leading figure in the robotics industry.
He is part of a project to measure AI's degree of understanding of human emotions through the playing of musical instruments
called "Research on AI's Understanding and Expression of Human Emotion."
Romeo sees it as his mission to help people through the power of music,
but he doesn't yet know that he is only an experimental subject and is nothing more than "merely research."
He decided to attend junior high school because Dr. Mirai told him,
"You need to make more friends to get better at playing the keyboard."
Despite coming clean about being an android and living just like a normal human student,
he was shunned by the other students at school.
Romeo considers Hinata his first friend and thinks of him as irreplaceable.
Around that time, Romeo was also very influenced by Hinata's thoughts, values, and standards of judgement.
Romeo's extremely taken by Hinata, has zero doubts about him, and is completely unaware of Hinata's "problem."
He considers Gekka his second friend.
He feels a warmth in his chest when he talks to the gentle Gekka.
His corgi's name is Watson, and he takes great care of him.
Kyosuke is his dog-walking friend.
